Rec!

I'm compiling another list of Trek recs, but I have to take a special time-out here to tell you about one in particular. My sweet sweet [info]anevivi wrote Sight (Kirk/McCoy, NC-17) for me, and I feel so special and beloved right now because this is one of the most fantastic fics I've ever read. You won't believe this after you've read it, but it's her first Star Trek fic. I have this bizarre fetish for blindness (probably somehow correlated to my glasses kink, and you'd think a person with eyesight as bad as mine would hate this kind of stuff, but I don't ever pretend to understand how my brain works) and she has very kindly blinded Jim Kirk for me, and his recovery is delicious.

I know there's a lot of Trek fic out there right now, but this one's worth putting at the top of your to-read list--or putting off bedtime. Go! Read! Give love!

Trek recs!

I have been devouring Trek fic like a mad devouring thing for the past several days and have pretty much lost myself in doing so. I've got a few recs here, but there's so much good shiny out there right now that this is by no means even a decent-sized sample. These are all adult-rated, FYI.

Kirk/McCoy (OTP, baby!)

The Two Men and A Motorbike Series, by [info]inell. I know everyone and their mom is reading this series right now, and for good reason, but just in case you managed to miss it, now you have no excuse. Bones and Jim are perfectly imperfect in [info]inell's hands, trying to work out what exactly they are doing.

Professional Distance by [info]heather11483. Bones knows Jim's a crazy son of a bitch; it just didn't used to bother him this much. Guh, I love these two so much, and [info]heather11483 has condensed the why and wherefore of that love into a beautiful and sexy little fic.

i'm just a jealous guy by [info]londondrowning. Leonard McCoy is thirty-one and he’s too fucking old to be anybody’s jealous boyfriend. Guh, bruises and stitches and cuts and arguments and jealousy.

His Hands, Your Mouth by [info]wook77. Bullshit medals, alcohol, a massage, and Jim Kirk all combine to interrupt Leonard McCoy's life. Rough and dirty and ouch. This made me keysmash, and I pretty much never keysmash.

And Kirk/McCoy art by [info]myrafur which pretty much exemplifies the noise I make whenever I see a puppy. But like...a puppy with a grudge and possibly a loaded weapon I DON'T KNOW DON'T JUDGE ME.

Sulu/Chekov

Trouble Sleeping by [info]hollycomb. Sulu and Chekov sleep in the same bed, but they're never in it at the same time. This is the sweetest, most beautiful little ficlet ever. This is my new personal canon. I've read it an embarrassing number of times in a row.

& one of them will be me watching you run by [info]eudaimon. When he was a tiny child, his mother was a runner. She won medals, running in the grey, misting rain. He learned from her. Guh, what is it about this pairing that makes me want to snuggle someone hard? This is beautiful.

Drive-by rec

Finding Viktor Krum (Viktor/Albus Severus, NC-17) by Anonymous at [info]hp_beholder. "A man walks into a pub..." Or, how the universe played a joke on Albus Severus Potter and how he learned to go along with it.

My heart is so full of love after reading this that I can't even give you a coherent rec for it. (Well, that, and I'm wicked tired.) But seriously, if you have any kind of soul, you need to read this. It's overwhelmingly beautiful.

A surprising rec.

Doing [info]quibbler_report tonight, I came across a fic at the [info]hp_beholder fest called Apart. I'm going to hold off on telling you the pairing for a moment (if you haven't already seen it) because I want to emphasize how amazing it is that I even read this fic, let alone liked it, let alone made it Editor's Pick in the QR tonight, let alone am reccing it on my journal.

I don't read shippy Slytherin fic as a general rule. No Snape, no Draco, no Lucius, none of 'em. So when I came actoss a 15k word fic that featured a Slytherin pairing tonight that I had to read for QR, I heaved a sigh and went for it.

...and emerged 45 minutes later in love with the mystery author.

The pairing is Draco/Rita, and if you haven't scrolled on past yet, do give the fic a try despite the odd pairing. It's beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about it. If I loved it, despite my Slytherin allergy (and the allergy did not rear its ugly head even once during the fic) then so will you.

I hate to have even a small quibble with the fic, but there was one blatant Americanism in it. If you can get past that--I managed to--then you'll adore this.

I know that some authors hate the "I don't like X, but I loved this!" reviews, and I hope this particular mystery author is okay with those types of reviews, because I think that's the very best way to emphasize how very good I thought this fic was.

Go! Read! Give love!

Valensmut goodies for ME!

I GOT SIRIUS/PERCY FIC! I've asked for this pairing about fifty different times and (understandably!) no one has written it for me in an exchange, but for [info]hpvalensmut, some fantastic mystery author has written a really fantastic, plotty Sirius/Percy fic for me (with bonus Unspeakable!Anthony Goldstein, gah, lovelovelove).

Check it out, and be sure to give the author some love! *twirls*

Title: Pierce the Veil
Author: Mystery Cupid
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 10,857
Warnings: Slight mental instability, some violence, scenes of explicit sexual nature, some harsh language, EWE.
Disclaimers: I don't own, obviously.
Summary: Sirius/Percy. When Sirius Black falls out of the Veil that had once claimed his life, seemingly having fought his way out, the Unspeakables are at a loss for an explanation. Kingsley convinces Harry to allow Percy, first assistant to the Minister, to become his part-time caretaker instead of a faceless Unspeakable in order to monitor his progress and perhaps gain further understanding of the world behind the Veil. But as Percy spends more time with the now slightly unbalanced and violent man he'd only heard horror stories about during his childhood, he slowly realizes that he may have signed up for much more than he bargained for.

A belated rec

I'm so behind on everything right now, and I can't believe I missed reccing the lovely fic that someone wrote for me for the [info]3fan_holidays exchange. It's Avuncular Affection, Percy/Albus Severus, PG-13. Percy and his nephew get on well when they see each other at the Weasley holiday parties.

The fic is lovely and gentle and I insist you run over right now and give the mystery author some love! ♥

Yuletide Recs!

Yuletide has been just PHENOMENAL this year! I've finally finished all the fic I bookmarked to read (and a few others found through others' recs) and it's time for a recs post! Warning: excessive use of exclamation points ahead.

First of all, I had not one, but two fantastic stories written for me! My main story is Tell It To The World, Why Don't You, Newsies, Racetrack/Spot. I squeed just from the summary: Sharing a room for the night meant more than an uneasy mix of thrown elbows and awkward silences. It meant a shortage of towels. And blankets. And beds. It meant sometimes, those shortages got taken personally. Spot Conlon, for instance, liked to take things personally.

Cut for squee )

And I also got a fantastic Yuletide treat written for me! Fumbling Cartography, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Sammy/Tracy. This fic is the complete opposite of my Newsies fic--not in awesomeness, because it is definitely just as awesome, but in tone and in form. Sammy and Tracy make me so happy when they are together, and this little scene is definitely no exception. The mystery author writes--I am not even kidding about this--just like Michael Chabon. I can't even fathom being such an amazing writer. I really hope the author understood from my comment that I was just kind of stunned by the golden beauty of this fic and therefore rendered incapable of squee.

Cut for stunning golden beauty )

So, yes, I got extremely loved this Yuletide, and I'm a very happy girl!

And here are a few (okay, several!) more recs--not written for me, but I loved them. Hope you find something you enjoy!

I got art!

I did a pinch-hit for [info]harry_holidays and I forgot that the mod had said I'd be getting a gift in return, so imagine my surprise when this lovely art was posted for me! (Scroll down to the comments to see the art until the html gets fixed.) It's Percy/Harry and it's just killer romantic which of course makes me a happy happy Emi. The colors are just so pretty and the kiss, nghhh. Go, look, give love!

Spoiled Emi, take two!

Today I received two ficlets and a drawing, too! I'm going to get spoiled, I really am.

[info]mariamme wrote me a lovely Bill and Charlie drabble, Merry and Bright, which showcases exactly what I love about these brothers and is just too sweet.

[info]celandineb wrote me a fantastic Percy/Charlie ficlet, Kissing Percy, which is just awesome because it demonstrates that, yes, Charlie and Percy really are related to one another, and here's proof.

And [info]ericahpfa drew gravity-defying Charlie/Harry for me, A Festivus for the Rest of Us!. You have to see it to believe it. Also, where she says The moment Harry realized that maybe Festivus isn't just another reason for the Weasley boys to pummel and punch each other is just bringing all sorts of awesome Weasley actiony goodness into my brain.

Go, read/look, give love!

Spoiled Emi

[info]westernredcedar and [info]mariamme both wrote me ficlets yesterday because I am a whiny girl when I am sick, and they are both lovely!

Cedar wrote The True Test (Irwin/Dakin, PG-13), which was actually really for [info]celandineb but also a little bit for me because of aforementioned whininess and sickness. And it's lovely and touching and awesome.

And Mari wrote Sick at Christmas (Molly/Arthur, G) for my prompt of mistletoe, and it's lovely and sweet as only this pairing can be, and it's awesome to see Mari writing again, too!

Excuse my lack of a decent vocabulary today; I'm still sort of swimming in sickness and snot and ew. Just go read the ficlets--they're much more entertaining than my babbling.

Rec!

I can't believe I neglected to rec the awesome fic that [info]celandineb wrote for me for [info]daily_deviant's Kinky Kristmas 2008! It's a brilliant Percy/Harry piece called Walk Together and Cel completely indulged me and included heaps of the little details that make me love this pairing so much, and it's adorable and sweet and just fantastic. Go, read, give love!

A drop-everything-right-now rec

So, I've gotten out of the habit of reading much fic lately, and I've never been very good about doing recs of things I love, but there's no way I can let this fic go by without begging you all to read it.

It's The Fisher King (Percy/Moody, NC-17) which [info]florahart was lucky enough to receive in the Yule Balls exchange. Please don't be put off by the pairing--both Percy and Moody are amazing, fully rounded characters here and yes, it's certainly strange thinking of Moody as someone who could be loved, but he is, and this mystery author does a phenomenal job of showing how it happens. I'm doing my best to be coherent and mature and non-flaily here because this story deserves so much better than flail, but I fear I'm failing at that attempt. But it's just heartwrenching. And it ties into canon which is just, oh, so amazing! Do give it a chance. I promise you'll be grateful!

[info]swtalmnd has written me the loveliest, porniest, tastiest little Percy/Remus ficlet here and you all need to go over there right now and read and give love! My goodness, I feel spoiled lately!

Recs!

[info]celandineb wrote me an awesome History Boys ficlet, The Party (Scripps, Dakin/Irwin, general) just because! It's fantastic, and you should all go, read, and give love. *twirls* I feel mighty special.

Also, [info]benebu translated my ficlet Making A List (And Checking it Twice) into French! It is here: Faire une liste (et la vérifier deux fois). I can't read it, but it always feels so cool to have my stuff translated. Also, Neville's last name in French is really amusing.

A bit spammy tonight.

Dear My Flist,

You are boring. I love you immensely, but you are boring. Percy/Harry? Really? I could have chosen my OTP myself, you know.

♥,

Emi.

And speaking of Percy/Harry, everyone needs to go read the amazingfantasticsweetwonderfulwow ficlet that [info]lesyeuxverts wrote for me! It's Just As Always for my prompt of 3:15 a.m. It melted me beautifully. Go, read, give love!

Recs, omg.

Two recs for your perverse Sunday enjoyment.

First, everyone must go read the pervtastic History Boys teenyfic that [info]celandineb wrote for me yesterday. It's Roundabouts (Dakin/Irwin, Quite Porny) and, damn, even if you're not familiar with the fandom, I should think this would be intriguing to you. Hot schoolboy roleplay with paddling and role-reversal...what's not to love? ♥

Second, though I know you probably already saw it on your flist and went O_o, [info]florahart wrote Primrose Path. Now. This is a fandom based on, oh, 45 seconds of canon. Which would be the fake trailer for the fake movie Satan's Alley which precedes the movie Tropic Thunder. And while it does list Tobey Maguire as a character, it's very much not RPS, because otherwise this RPS-hater would not have touched it with a ten-foot pole, and, people, I betaed it. So, in conclusion: Fake-RPS, monk sex, blowjobs in a bathroom, mild insanity, and, hell, it's by Flora. You know that means it's fantastic.

Go! Read! Give love and feedback!

GO READ THIS FIC RIGHT NOW.

[info]snegurochka_lee wrote Percy/Neville for her own Most Hated Pairings Challenge, and I think she must secretly think they are sexy because this fic is so beyond hot. Just. Neville smearing garden dirt on Percy's clean white shirt. Oh, my. *fans self*

I'm still squeeing.

Rolling Around in the Dirt is seriously just a great fic, regardless of who likes what pairings. Go, read, give love! ♥!

Aug. 7th, 2008

Recs!

[info]celandineb wrote me a perfect History Boys drabble today! It is Fiona gen, New World, and it illustrates precisely how awesome Fiona is. Go, read, give love!

And you should all go and look at this baby gorilla as well, because he has brought me no end of smiles this afternoon!

Art Pimp!

If you all haven't seen the jaw-dropping art that [info]ghot did for me for the Live Long and Marry auction, I order you to stop whatever you are doing and go look at it now.

The Scar, the Redhead, and the Brooms is a breathtakingly romantic (G-rated) Percy/Harry that captures perfectly the moment just before a kiss. If you've ever seeen [info]ghot's art before, you know it is fantastic--she's the one who drew that amazing Percy/Oliver piece for the Percy Ficathon. This woman is a talent.

I could not possibly be any happier with my art. I am a [info]ghot fangirl for life. ♥
